A memorandum in Beijing, no result in Bulgaria

On January 17th 2020, the Bulgarian government announced that Bulgaria and China would set up a production base for electric buses.

A Bulgarian delegation visited the Jiangsu Alfa Bus office in Beijing. During the talks, the company management assured Deputy Prime Minister Mariana Nikolova that when investing in Bulgaria, the company would introduce the most modern technologies for the production of electric buses and their parts. So far this is the latest information on the project.

Jiangsu Alfa Bus is one of the first manufacturers of electric vehicles in China, launching its first model bus in 2012 with its equipment and state-of-the-art technology. The company works in collaboration with global car companies.

In January 2020, a memorandum was filed for the involvement of the executive board of the Bulgarian Investment Agency, Stamen Yanev, in the Jiangsu Alfa Bus project.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Bulgarian Investment Agency, represented by its Executive Director, Stamen Yanev, and the two companies. Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Demographic Policy, Mariana Nikolova, also attended the event at the Bulgarian Embassy in Beijing.
